Basic Skills Improvement
Basic Skills Improvement classes are for individuals 18 years of age and older and whose basic reading, math, and/or writing skills are below the ninth-grade level of achievement.
GED Preparation
GED preparation classes are for individuals 18 years of age and older with reading, math, and/or writing skills at the ninth grade level or above.

In addition to classroom instruction, GED Distance Education is offered. Students study from a computer with internet access while a teacher provides individualized instruction.
GED Distance Education Information Sessions
The GED Distance Education program is for students who desire the convenience of studying from a computer with internet access while an instructor provides individualized instruction. The flexibility of this program allows students to begin at any time, on their own time. Computer Access/Wi-Fi is needed to complete this program.
Participants must be 18 years of age or older. Interested students must take a placement test to ensure proper program entrance level. Students need to attend a Zoom Information Session on one of the dates and times listed below. This session will take approximately one hour. To register for one of the Zoom Sessions, click on the date you would like to attend.

The fee is $30 for 30 days. Non-refundable tuition fees are payable by cashier's check, money order, or debit/credit card (VISA or MasterCard). Continuous Study at $30 for 30 days is available to enrolled students
GED Test
The GED Test is offered year-round at the Adult Learning Center. Visit MyGED.com for more information and to register for testing.
GED Ready Test (practice test)
The GED Ready Test determines readiness to take the official GED Test.

Registration is limited to eight people for each in-person session.

To participate you must register for one of the dates listed above. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, walk-ins will not be accepted.

National External Diploma Program
Need a high school diploma to advance in your career? If you have acquired academic skills through life and work experiences and can demonstrate what you have learned, the National External Diploma Program (NEDP) may be for you. PWCS Adult Education offers this competency-based high school completion program for individuals 18 years of age and older.
National External Diploma Program Information for 2022-23
Participants may enroll in the National External Diploma Program (NEDP) which is an untimed competency-based high school completion program. Successful completion of the NEDP earns the participant a high school diploma.
Registration
Prospective students must take a qualification test prior to enrollment. Students need to register for one virtual Information Session which takes approximately one hour. Information Sessions will be held at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. on the Mondays listed below.

Cost
Non-refundable tuition fees are payable by cashier's check, money order, or debit/credit card (VISA or MasterCard). Program offerings are contingent on funding and sufficient enrollment. (Non-residents of Prince William County, City of Manassas, and City of Manassas Park will be required to pay additional tuition fees.)
- Diagnostic (First Phase) - $200
- Assessment (Second Phase)* - $600
- TOTAL - $800
*The second phase may be made by one $300 payment and three consecutive $100 monthly payments.
Completion
Completion time varies with each individual, averaging from six months to a year. The NEDP awards a standard high school diploma that is issued by the local school board through the Office of Adult Education. This diploma is accepted by colleges but some colleges may require that adults meet other admissions standards.
The National External Diploma Program is administered through the Virginia State Department of Education and CASAS.
Tuition is due at the time of registration. Fees are payable by cashier's check, money order or credit card (Visa or Mastercard) using the link sent to you. NO PERSONAL CHECKS. All fees are non-refundable. Course offerings are contingent on funding and sufficient enrollment. Children are not permitted in class.
